More storage for PS5: Corsair brings cheap SSD

The internal memory of the PlayStation 5 is not exactly lush in relation to the file size of many games. Many players therefore improve and exchange the built SSD against a larger version. A particularly in-demand model is the cheap but fast Samsung 980 PRO. It now receives powerful competition from manufacturer Corsair. With the MP600 PRO LPX now, it offers a SSD optimized for use in the PS5, which is faster than the device of the South Korean, priced but in a similar league.

The memory is available in sizes 500 gigabytes (GB) and 1, 2 and 4 terabytes (TB). While the 4-TB model with 879.99 euros is not a bargain at the best will, the other variants move with 114.99 euros, 189.99 euros and 379.99 euros in quite attractive price regions. All versions are equipped with an ex factory installed, particularly flat heat distributor made of aluminum. The protects the devices from overheating and ensures that the performance with high stress does not fall too strongly by throttling.

Handsome writing and reading pace

The SSD supports the fourth generation PCIe technology and comes to a sequential reading speed of up to 7,100 megabytes per second (MB / S). The maximum sequential write speed depends on the selected capacity and at the two large models is 6,800 MB / s, the 1-TB model 5,800 MB / s and the 500 GB variant 3,700 MB / s. For orientation: Samsung 980 Pro comes independently of the capacity to 7,000 MB / s read and 5,100 MB / s write speed.

Compared to the Factory Installed SSD memory of the PS5, the MP600 Pro LPX should start by Corsair games by up to 1 second faster. The manufacturer designates its product as a particularly robust and durable. To underline this statement, Corsair grants a five-year warranty on the SSDs.
